Hello Mathematicians! I know I haven’t been posting as much as usual lately, but there is a very good reason for that. Therefore, I wanted to share what’s been going on.
Toward the end the semester last year, after welcoming Teddy into our family, Paula and I made the decision that we wanted to be closer to family so that our children would be able to spend more time with their grandparents. We will be moving at the end of the current semester from Richmond, VA to Chicago, IL!
I am indeed very excited to be moving closer to family, but not all of me wants to go. I originally decided to move to Virginia for my position as an instructor at VCU. However, the real motivation for moving across the country was to get away from the cold.
I have very much enjoyed my job and the wonderful weather. In fact, I’m going to miss both immensely. What has changed is that our family has gotten larger. When it was just Paula and I, it wasn’t that difficult to fly or drive back to visit our family, but with children, this has become a much more difficult task. In fact, we still have not travelled to visit anyone since Teddy has been born. While it was difficult to give up what we had here, both of us thought it was the best decision overall.
From the time we made the decision to move, our lives have gotten even more hectic. We already had a toddler and a newborn to take care, but on top of that we’ve added all the work required to prepare our house to sell, starting to pack, and planning the move.
Perhaps we could have made things easier on ourselves, but we decided that we wanted to update some of the things around our house in order to get it looking nice for sale. This included replacing the flooring on the first floor and painting a few of the rooms. We have started the process of fixing the flooring, but it is still ongoing. With our kitchen torn up, there has been a lot of going out to eat or snacking, because we don’t currently have the functionality needed to cook. The end is in sight though, so I hope it looks as wonderful when we’re done as we hope it will.
Even though I haven’t been doing many posts, Paula has been making some cloth diaper videos. We both really enjoy using cloth diapers, for many reasons, and we wanted to share the experience. If you’d like to see more on this, visit our playlist on YouTube.
I will update you and even include some pictures when the repairs are completed, so please come back to see how things are going. Otherwise, thank you for reading and sticking with us. If you have any questions or comments, please leave them below!
